Overview

The Eurofighter Typhoon is Europe’s premier swing-role combat aircraft, serving with Germany, UK, Italy, Spain, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman. With supercruise capability at Mach 1.5 and extreme agility from its delta-canard configuration, it is one of the most capable 4.5-generation fighters in service.

Design & Development

Born from the four-nation European Fighter Aircraft program, the Typhoon features a deliberately unstable delta-canard aerodynamic layout controlled by a quadruplex digital fly-by-wire system. This instability provides extraordinary agility. The twin EJ200 engines deliver 20,000 lbf each with afterburner, enabling supercruise capability.

Operational History

The Typhoon has seen combat over Libya (2011), Iraq, and Syria. It maintains Quick Reaction Alert duties defending European airspace and has consistently performed well in international exercises. Over 600 have been delivered, with production continuing for export customers.
